Discover how Montessori learning has been the foundation of Learning House Preschool in Round Rock, Texas since 2008, fostering self-directed learning and genuine concentration in young children.
Montessori learning has been at the base of Learning House preschool here in Round Rock Texas ever since the founding in 2008. This philosophy has stuck and we believe this idea of Self directed learning. One of the most remarkable aspects of our Round Rock Montessori program is watching children develop genuine concentration and focus. In our photo galleries, you'll often see three and four-year-olds spending 20, 30, even 45 minutes working with a single activity – completely absorbed in their chosen work. This isn't forced attention or compliance, we simply encourage and guide the students. It's the natural result of matching children with activities that perfectly suit their developmental stage and interests. When children can choose their own learning activities, they develop what educators call "intrinsic motivation" – the internal drive to learn and grow that will serve them throughout their educational journey.
Here at Learning House Preschool we provide students with the specialized Montessori materials in all of our classrooms, Nido, Maison, and Casa. Not only are the toys pleasant, but they are also fundamental for the development of the children here at Learning House Preschool. Our wooden puzzles with knobbed cylinders teach visual discrimination, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills. The blue earth and the colored continents introduce the children to the geography of the world while also teaching that same visual discrimination and hand-eye coordination. What makes these materials truly magical is that they're self-correcting. Children can see and feel when something isn't quite right, encouraging them to persist and try different approaches. This builds problem-solving skills and resilience – qualities that will benefit them far beyond preschool.
In our photos, you'll see children engaged in what we call "practical life" activities – pouring, spooning, polishing, and caring for classroom plants. These activities might seem simple, but they're building essential life skills and developing the fine motor control needed for writing and other academic tasks. Round Rock parents are often amazed when their children come home wanting to help with cooking, cleaning, and organizing. This enthusiasm for meaningful work is a natural result of experiencing the satisfaction and pride that comes from contributing to their classroom community.
Learning House Preschool here in Round Rock expects children to enter kindergarten with strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and social development. Our Montessori approach naturally develops these competencies through engaging, hands-on experiences rather than drilling and repetition. Here we see the kids learning about the different word families using letters that are color coded which helps the kids make connection in their mind, helping them learn and grasp the spelling and phonics concepts that are going to be important for their development as they advance to kindergarten.
